Firstly, Munich is a home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums, national and international authorities, major universities and theatres. Therefore, your vacation won't be complete if your plane lands in Munich and you miss seeing even one of the locations classified below. Its numerous architectural attractions, international sports events, exhibitions and conferences and its annual Oktoberfest attract a considerable number of travelers. It is one of the most prosperous and fastest growing cities in Germany.

Next, in the Altstadt (Old Town), the center of the city is the Marienplatz – a large open square bears the name of the Mariensäule, a Marian column in its center – with the Old and the New Town Hall. The square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century. Three gates of the city have survived to this day. They are the Isartor in the east, the Sendlinger Tor in the south and the Karlstor in the west of the inner city. The Karlstor leads up to the Stachus, a grand square dominated by the Justizpalast (Palace of Justice) and a fountain.
