Originally lived in by 11th-century hermits, the monasteries later became safe havens for monks fleeing bloodshed when the Roman Empire began to fall. The two monasteries you may visit are subject to change but typically include Grand Meteora Monastery, Moni Varlaam or Moni Agiou Stefanou. After your tour of Meteora, return to your coach for your journey back to Athens. The full route lasts around four hours, so enjoy a stop halfway in the coastal town of Thermopylae, near Lamia. Use the break for lunch (own expense), and to stretch your legs while learning about Thermoplylae’s historical battle between the Greek Spartans and Persians.Travel onward to the Greek capital, and finish your 2-day tour with a drop-off at the start point (your hotel or central Athens) in the early evening.

Loved the places we visited, too bad the time at Delphi was too short. Is a very big site, there wasn't enough time to enjoy it all. Hotel and meals at Kalambaka were very good, and so was lunch on the first day. Lunch on the way back from Meteora was not good at all. Probably the whole bus trip should be reviewed regarding stops, passengers behaviour, time to sleep and time to give info. The tour guide had a lot of knowledge to share.

The accommodation was not really good for the 4 star accommodation. Otherwise trip is well conducted and smooth

The tour covers two places Delphi and Meteora. That is really nice. But, too short to stay at Delphi and didn’t go to Delphi Museum. My son is really sad about that. Our tour guide about Delphi trip is knowledgeable and told us a lot of stories.

Nice to have everything taken care of just able to relax and see sights. Would have liked more time at the monasteries.

I understand that this trip might not be for everyone. I went on this trip with my adult son and we both agree that this was well worth it but did have its pros and cons. Let me start with the cons. You spend most of the first day on the bus. The hotel in Kalambaka is not great. You do not have too many options of what to eat. Although lunches are optional, they take you to places that are really your only option as no other restaurants are in the area. On the second day the place ran out of options and I had to eat what was left. With this said, the pros more than outweigh the cons. The pros are Delphi and Meteora. On day 1 you visit Delphi. Although I was expecting the ruins I was pleasantly surprised by the setting. The surrounding area is beautiful and just enhanced the ruins. On day 2 you see Meteora. Although it is not as well known as other sights, I think it should be on everyone's bucket list. I could have spent all day just sitting up there and looking at the stunning views. Take this trip but expect that you will have to travel to see these two wonders.

The highlight of this tour was the knowledge and experience that our guide, Stathus, had. We also enjoyed not having to do the driving to the sites. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but our dinner was just OK. Overall, though, it was enjoyable and informative.

I would highly recommend this tour. Well worth the cost. Coaches were clean, well maintained and the guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. Delphi was stunning and the hotel we stayed at was a converted monastery which was beautiful. Meteora itself is a must do, it's amazing. You won't regret the trip :
