Things to Do in this tour

Acropolis Museum is a museum dedicated to archaeology based on the findings from the Acropolis of Athens. Acropolis Museum is designed to house every artifact and object found during excavations in Acropolis and its surroundings. Those objects date from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine era. Up to 4,000 objects are on display.

Acropolis of Athens is the symbol of the city and standing proof of ancient Greek civilization. It is an ancient citadel standing on the edge of a rocky mountain overlooking the city of Athens. The name "acropolis" in Greek means a complex built on a high hill, "akro" for edge and "polis" for city.

This was a well organised tour, with a prompt coach pick up and a very knowledgeable guide, Effi. The first part of the tour is coach based with brief stops along the way for pictures, but we finally disembarked at the Acropolis Museum and this is where the tour got really interesting with Effi's knowledge of the subject bringing the history to life in English and French. The museum is an ultra modern building with glass floors between levels and a fitting achitectural structure to complement the historic ruins it depicts and faces. The final part of the tour was the ascent to the top of the Acropolis and the Parthenon itself, which is an impressive sight. A very enjoyable half day and one I would recommend.
