It's an ancient artificial hill right behind the Forbidden City. If you don't have time, or simply don't want to take on the crowds of the Forbidden City, then visiting this hill is an adequate replacement. It features a nice park combined with probably the best view of the Forbidden City. Entry is 25 CNY (August 2018)

Um ótimo lugar para apreciar a Cidade Proibida de cima. Tente ir no final da tarde ou após a chuva quando a poluição de Pequim se dissipa.

Very pleasant park. The entrance costs ¥2 and can be payed by WeChat or cash. The view from the highest point of the park is fantastic, you get a beautiful view of almost all of Beijing. The rest of the park was alright. Something to take into consideration before going it that the steps are sometimes quite slippery and deteriorated, also, the ramps seem inadequate for wheelchairs.

This is a nice park and you have a great view over the forbidden city from the hill in the middle of the park. If you leave the forbidden city from the north exit, then just visit this park after it. It only takes a few minutes

Wonderful view from center of beijing, really ties the map together in my head. Drum tower to north, forbidden city to south. Not well noticed on travel books, no English signage but just 2rmb.

A surprisingly high hill in the city provides a great view and photo opportunity of the Forbidden City. Local Chinese are often seen doing gymnastics here, as I do try to keep in shape I did some of my own. When I also did some pushups, I noted a middle age Chinese man who looked at me closely, then at the ground, and he obviously had one 'what the heck' moment and the he did some pushups as well. =)
